XP10 issue with OSX 10.6.3

18 messages - 1982 views
My XP10s are no longer recognised when I updated mac OS X to 10.6.3. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, but no joy .... BEWARE!
Apple were unable to assist, basically told me to try reset everything, but that didn't help.

Spoke to EKS and they are investigating ... hopefully will have an updated driver soon. I can't wait around though ... need my decks, will have to reinstall and stay at 10.6.2
Hello,

The XP10 is not supported on Intel Macs. The XP5 and Otus work with all Macs.
Does that mean that an updated driver will not be provided?

They work fine on my Intel mac on version 10.6.2, but not on 10.6.3 (I've just reinstalled the OS)

The issue can't be fixed with drivers. We have received reports of the XP10 working for some users with their specific setup, but as you have experienced they may suddenly stop working.

If you have bootcamp installed, the XP10 should work fine under Windows.
damn my xp10's worked fine till the update of OSX.
now can i trow away my xp10's i'm not going back to windows.

if anyone has something reply here please.

I had to roll back to 10.6.2.

It is very frustrating that eks will not resolve this issue by updating their drivers. Suggesting to use a different operating system is ridiculous!! ... your choice to either never upgrade your os ... or buy new controllers.

If it is eks position to not support their users .... then perhaps I am better off going to a manufacturer that will.
I understand your frustration with this problem, but the fact of the matter is that the issue is related to how OS X handles USB devices and is thus beyond what can be resolved with MIDI drivers. Because of this issue, the XP10 has never been sold as being compatible with Intel Macs, and interested customers have been advised to purchase the XP5 instead.
You have posted instructions on your website on "Setting up NI Traktor 3 on a Mac" for the XP-Series

http://eks.fi/index2.php?p=support&o=Setting%20up%20NI%20Traktor%203%20on%20a%20Mac

To me, this suggests theory the two are compatible - nowhere on this page is there any reference to the Intel Mac. As they worked fine on 10.6.2, they must be compatible (in some way).

I'm off to play with my new Kontrol X1 from Native Intruments .... highly recommended.

FOR SALE: 2 x XP10
The XP10 product page clearly states that a PowerPC based Mac is needed.

As I stated above, occasionally the controllers may work on Intel Macs in certain setups, but we cannot guarantee that they will work nor that they will continue to work. This is why we do not and never have supported the XP10 on Intel Macs.
