CDJ style spinning ring of leds

12 messages - 1951 views
Hey all, i got my otus last week, and i must say, i love it. I love the outside of the box thinking, and i'm just finishing off my own custom midi map. This is only my second controller so i'm a bit of a noob still. when i trying out various layouts, the boogie pimps mapping had the ring of leds around the platter spinning when the track played, like a cdj 400 for instance. I was wondering if anybody could lend me a hand on how this was achieved? I looked at the sticky thread on the leds, but it was way over my head. :P
whoops... double post.. the internet hung and i didn't think the last one went through.. could a mod please get rid of that? cheers
Found this on Traktor forum and it worked for me :)

in the mapping window, add an midi out controler from the "output" category, there u should find an function named Beat Phase Monitor and for deck A using midi channel 1 set it to use the note Ch01 F#7, select ur DeckA in the dropdownmenu thats prolly set to GLOBAL,

tick both boxes "invert" and "blend"
set

ctrlcmd to MIN: -0.5 and MAX: 0.5 (click boxes and type it in)
midi to MIN:0 and MAX: 31 or 32

that should do it, and repeat for each layer#
sweet thanks. although i do have the problem that now both green and amber decks show up at once spinning, but if they over lap it means they're in sync which is pretty cool i think :) not sure if much practical use but fun and pretty light show :P
ye and: midi to MIN:0 and MAX: 31
as 0 is a value in midi, so max should be set to 31
I found the colours together at the same time stopped me accidently stoping a deck meaning to play the other lol
There's a nice effect if you put max to 33. So the led turns round and stop for half a second..

try it out!
Hi guys!

Well try to use Beat Phase on a Tempo Slider LEDs. It's much better. Use G7 note for that, and MIDI Range from 0 to 63.

Best regards
I've tryed Beat Phase on Tempo Slider LEDs, it worked nicely but i prefer Beat Phase on wheel LEDs so when i deleted output on Tempo Slider LEDs they wouldn't work any more. Do you have any suggestions how to resolve this?
After deletion, You just need to rerun otus and traktor. That's all. About Beat Phase on a wheel - it works to fast and thats not cool :)
